We request a phone number at sign-up to verify that new users are genuine by sending an SMS verification code. Our app’s core functionality involves users creating and discovering real-world events, which may take place at private residences or personal addresses. This verification step is therefore essential to:

• Ensure User Authenticity: Confirming a phone number helps us mitigate the risk of fake or “throwaway” accounts.
• Protect Privacy and Safety: By requiring a verified phone number, we reduce the likelihood of fraudulent event postings that could impact the safety of other users or involve unauthorized use of someone’s home address.

Our Privacy Policy details how the phone number will be used and protected. We do not utilize phone numbers for any other purpose beside account verification, nor do we share them with third parties.

2. What is Loiter?

Loiter is the simplest way to discover what’s on in your community—right now, tomorrow, or this weekend. All the local events are just a tap away.

3. How does Loiter work?

Loiter lets everyone in the community share events effortlessly. Got a garage sale, market, sports game, or school fete? Loiter gets the word out. Events pop up as colorful balloons on the map—tap an Event balloon to see all the details. Looking for something specific? Use “Filters” to narrow your search or explore “Events happening” to set the time frame.

4. How do I post my event?

Sharing events on Loiter is simple and open to everyone. Just create an account, tap “Add Event,” fill out your event details, and you’re good to go!

5. Where is Loiter currently available?

Loiter events are currently limited to the Peninsula in the Central Coast of Australia (postcodes 2256 and 2257), but we plan to roll out broader coverage soon. Our current coverage includes:
